First time visiting.
What should I expect?

We're excited to have you join us. As you prepare to visit our church for the first time, we understand you might have some questions. We do ask that you seek God’s guidance as you discern His will for a local fellowship (1 John 4:1), the leadership here at The Light will also support you through prayer and you seek. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions that can help you feel more comfortable and informed about what to expect during your visit.

What should I expect during a service at Beckley First Baptist?
At The Light at Beckley First Baptist, you can anticipate a blend of tradition and contemporary worship styles. Our services feature a mix of hymns and contemporary music, creating a dynamic worship experience. Feel free to explore some of our past sermons to get a sense of the topics and messages we cover. Pastor Bryan’s delivers through exegetical preaching/teaching style. We feel the scriptures are the bases for all the church does and pursues to do within the spreading to the Kingdom of God through faith, hope and love! (Hebrews 10:25; Acts 2:42-47)

What should I wear?
There's no dress code here! Whether you prefer jeans and a t-shirt or your Sunday best, you're welcome to come as you are. (Psalm 51:17)

I have children. Are there opportunities for them?
Absolutely! We offer engaging Sunday School classes and Children's Church activities tailored to various age groups, led by God’s gifted teachers with the purpose to plant the seeds of the Gospel early (Proverbs 22:6; Mark 10:13-16). Additionally, we provide nursery care for the littlest members of our congregation.

How long are the services?
The purpose of a worship service is to Honor God and remind us of our commitment to Him according to Ephesians 4:12 ESV, “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.” Our services typically last about one hour, allowing you to worship and honor God, first, reflect, and connect with others.

Our fellowship feels God desires for us to build relationships that are everlasting. In our fallen state we seek to build one another up through encouragement and prayer. We do this by seeking to please the Lord through congregational corporate worship service. By honoring God first, He will bless our congregation with a Godly fellowship. (1 Corinthians 14:26; Romans 14:19; Ephesians 4:12)

Do I have to introduce myself in front of everyone?
While we love getting to know new faces, there's no pressure to introduce yourself publicly. However, we encourage you to connect with our friendly congregation before or after the service if you'd like! We have connections cards placed around the church for your convenience, if you’d like a call, visit or even prayer concerns.
